I honestly don't have a lot of information about Ishida Akira and don't know a lot about him, but he has done a lot of good roles and is currently doing quite a few.

anime differences (thus far)
gaara's body sash is white in the anime, the one around his gourd is still the bloody red color. In the manga, it was all red. His hair is more red than in the manga, but alls good. Also, there doesn't seem to be a color difference in the headprotectors, they are all blue now instead of .. well being different. I think the sand had burgandy in the manga. I also thought kankuro had white face paint along with the red, but uh.. yeah o.o;
